Aloha,
I have attached several item and a great summary of the AOB meeting. I want to ensure that everyone is aware of the 15 Wing’s ALZ repainting project will be done as a work in progress (WIP) project. As long as HIDOT-A approves our CSPP, the AF will NOT close the runway/s but instead work around the existing traffic. The AF purp…[Read more]

From Pat McNamee, President of GACH:
The General Aviation Council of Hawaii (GACH) is very saddened to hear about the recent Dillingham accident and the loss to the aviation community. Our hearts go out to the families and friends that were affected by this tragedy. The closing of an airfield because of accidents is akin to closing our highways…[Read more]

If you have any recent stories on how DOTA hurt you or GA I need to use them in a summary to HI Sen Gil Riviere. He would like to use this information to build examples on how DOTA unfairly treats HI GA. Gil is fired up and is a friend to GA (and HDH). I would hate to lose his momentum. Anything you can provide me this weekend would be greatly…[Read more]

I attended the quarterly meeting. Jeff Sawyer is back as the airport manager after quitting 2 months earlier. Jeff said that Roy will look into the required airfield survey that is currently preventing full use of the GPS approach. Ray Simpson said the new radar pad construction is starting soon with ECD of July 2020. Afterwards, they will get…[Read more]

It appears the local helicopter group has not stepped up to talk to the local community to solve the concerns. If they do not, I fear the legislatures will resolve the problem and not necessarily in aviation’s favor. I asked our AOPA representative and our Hawaii Aviation Causus chair to host a meeting to discuss this. I am hoping it happens bu…[Read more]
